As tax professionals look for ways to streamline their workflow and enhance client experience, Drake Portals® continues to evolve with features designed to help simplify and accelerate the tax preparation process.
Here’s what’s new:
1. Fresh New Look for Tax Preparers and Taxpayers
The document checklist (a checklist designed by tax preparers to organize and gather necessary tax documents and information from clients) has received an updated design. The updated layout is cleaner and more modern, making it even simpler to manage.
2. Batch Uploading for Clients
Your clients can now batch upload multiple documents at once into the checklist section of Drake Portals. No more sending one file at a time — this saves your clients time and helps makes it easier for you to get everything you need in one organized delivery.
3. File Assignment Made Simple
Once files are uploaded, either the taxpayer or the preparer can assign them to one or multiple checklist items. This creates flexibility and helps ensure the right documents are linked to the right sections of the return.
4. Multiple Documents Per Checklist Item
Checklist items now support multiple file attachments. Previously, only one file could be assigned to a checklist item, which meant additional documents had to be uploaded under a separate section. Now, you and your clients can keep related documents together in one place.
5. Mark Items as “Not needed” with Reason Capture
Checklist items can now be marked as “Not needed” by either party. If the taxpayer marks an item as unnecessary, they’re prompted to explain why. This note is then visible to the preparer, helping reduce back-and-forth emails and ensuring everyone is on the same page.
These enhancements are all about making communication smoother and document management more flexible.
