Available July 10 for Drake Tax Online users
We’re excited to introduce Drake SmartExtract (Beta): a new AI-powered feature designed to reduce manual data entry and help you move through returns faster.
Beginning July 10, Drake Tax Online (DTO) users can start using SmartExtract at no additional cost during the beta period. Desktop users—don’t worry—Drake Tax Desktop support is coming later this year.
Spend Less Time Entering Data
Drake SmartExtract uses AI-powered document extraction to read information from supported tax documents and populate it into the tax return, helping you streamline your workflow while maintaining control of the review process.
Simply upload your documents, review the extracted information, and continue preparing the return with confidence.
Supported Documents
The initial beta release supports many of the most commonly used tax forms, including:
- W-2
- Form 1098
- Form 1099-B
- Form 1099-DIV
- Form 1099-DA
- Form 1099-INT
- Form 1099-K
- Form 1099-MISC
- Form 1099-NEC
- Form 1099-R
- Consolidated 1099
- Form 1040
- Schedule K-1 (Form 1065)
As we continue developing Drake SmartExtract, we’ll expand support for additional forms and capabilities.
Getting Started
Using Drake SmartExtract is simple:
- Open a return in Drake Tax Online.
- Select Add Documents in the upper-right corner of the return.
- Upload your supported tax documents.
- Review the extracted data before adding it to the return.
You’ll always have the opportunity to verify the information before it’s imported.
Free During the Beta
Drake SmartExtract (Beta) is available at no cost for Drake Tax Online users during the beta period through amended returns. This gives you the opportunity to experience the feature firsthand while helping us improve it before a broader release.
Your feedback will play an important role in shaping future enhancements, improving extraction accuracy, expanding document support, and making tax season even easier for Drake professionals.
